Summary of Thomas Fire
What Happened
Mr. Robertson has been appointed by the Court to serve on the Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee for the thousands of individual plaintiffs suing Southern California Edison Company in Southern California Fire Cases, JCCP No. 4965, which involves both the Thomas Fire and resulting Montecito Debris Flow.
What We Did
Our law firm filed the first lawsuit in the Thomas Fire on behalf of individuals who lost their homes in the fire. We represent approximately 725 individual plaintiffs consisting of 300 households in this case. We also represent several families in wrongful death lawsuits who lost loved ones in the Montecito Debris Flow. As a member of Plaintiffs’ leadership, Alex took the lead in taking the depositions of first responders, eyewitnesses, SCE executives and some expert witnesses in the case.
What we achieved
Alex helped negotiate the resolution protocol, which provides for the efficient and timely resolution of thousands of cases through mediation, binding mediation and damages-only trials. Our firm has successfully mediated the claims of hundreds of plaintiffs and obtained recoveries in the hundreds of millions of dollars for our clients thus far.
